Confidence in God
Today’s Verse:
Hebrews 13:6 ESV
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
Happy Monday! As we begin a new week, none of us knows what the coming days have in store for us. We could have days filled with joy and happiness, or life’s uncertainties and challenges can fill our days. But the writer of Hebrews reminds us of an unshakable truth: we can live confidently because the Lord is our helper. This confidence is not based on our own strength or circumstances but on the unchanging faithfulness of God.
The world may bring trials, people may disappoint us, and our own weaknesses may discourage us, but none of these can separate us from the love and care of our Savior. The ultimate proof that God is for us is seen in the cross of Jesus. His resurrection assures us that nothing we face — fear, enemy, hardship—has the final word over our lives.
We read in Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Because of this, we do not need to live in fear. Whatever this day or this week holds, we can move forward with the bold assurance that God is with us, guiding and sustaining us.
Prayers
A Prayer for Today:
Lord, You are my helper and my confidence. When fear creeps in, remind me of Your promises. Strengthen my heart to trust in You completely. Let me walk in the boldness of Your love, knowing that nothing can separate me from Your care. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Luther’s Morning Prayer:
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
