“Hot Topics, Cool Truths.” More Than Enough

Today’s Verses:
Psalm 139:13-14
ESV

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

In a world that constantly asks us to prove our worth—through performance, appearance, or approval—it’s easy to forget who we are. Psalm 139 cuts through the noise. It tells us something far more permanent: we are made by God Himself. Carefully. Intentionally. Lovingly.

The psalmist doesn’t say we became valuable after we achieved something. He says we were “knitted together” in the womb by the hands of God. Every heartbeat, every breath, every part of who we are bears the imprint of our Creator.

Martin Luther once said, “We are not beggars hoping for scraps of love—we are beloved children of God.” This truth is not earned. It’s given. We are fearfully and wonderfully made—not because of what we do, but because of who made us.

So when shame creeps in, or the mirror tells you you’re not enough, remember this: your worth isn’t up for debate. It’s grounded in the unshakable reality that God formed you and called you good. You are His work—and His works are wonderful.

Prayers

A Prayer for Today:

Lord, help me to see myself through Your eyes. In moments of doubt, remind me that You formed me with purpose and love. Let me rest in the truth that my worth comes from You, not the world. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Luther’s Morning Prayer:

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
